This morning we had a bus picking up students on their route to the Junior High involved in a minor accident with another vehicle. At the time of the incident, 13 students and the bus driver were involved. Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded immediately to the accident, and MVESD staff were also on the scene immediately following the accident. First responders evaluated all of the students and driver, and no injuries were reported. Students and the driver have been transferred to another bus and are heading to the Junior High, where parents are being contacted. MVESD thanks all responders for their quick action and for putting the safety of our students and staff first and foremost. Route C will be running late but is currently in route picking up students for the Junior High. This is an opportunity to remind drivers to be aware of their surroundings and that buses pick up and drop off students in the morning and afternoon. Please, slow down, be aware, and give yourself a little more time to get where you are going.

CMES Families, We had our fourth lock down drill this afternoon. As always, we review our process and make plans and adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency. We are proud to announce that the entire school was locked down more than twice as quickly as our initial lock down in the first quarter. Congrats to the teachers and students who made this happen through practice and and review. If you have questions about today's lock down drill, please email Mr. Cottrell at cottrellr@mvdistrict.net. Thank you,

CMES wants to remind parents that there is school tomorrow. The old calendar had March 29 as a PD day, but that day was moved to February 17. If your calendar shows 3-29 as a professional day, you have an old calendar. The current calendar can be found on the district website. mvesd16.org

Parents and Guardians of Route G students, please note that the bus is running 20 to 30 minutes late. There were some mechanical issues on their regular bus. A second bus was sent to get the students. Thank you for your patience.

CMES would like to let parents know that we held our first lockdown drill of the school year this afternoon. The students responded well and the campus was secured quickly. Security checks were completed by administration with a deputy from MCSO. The information gathered from today's drill will be used to improve procedures going forward. On another note, the school has upgraded the visitor and parent pick-up procedure. Using Verkada Guest, all people visiting and picking up students, will need to present an identification to be scanned. This will be true for all parents and guests whether you are known to us or not. Please do not attempt to visit or pickup without having your identification. Thank you for continuing to support CMES as we implement new procedures to improve the safety of all students and staff.
