 Parents and Guardians:

\r\n

 MVESD Summer Enrichment Academy will be available to students who are currently enrolled in grades Kindergarten through Seventh at no cost. 

\r\n

 June 1st - June 30th - Monday Through Thursday

\r\n

Registration Closes: 5/25/2022 unless classes fill prior to this date (Children will then be placed on a waiting list)

\r\n

 Camp Mohave will be the host site of the MVESD Summer Enrichment Academy. Transportation will be provided for all K-7 students within District boundaries. Transportation is provided in the morning for the First Academic Session and Transportation home after lunch following the first session for students residing within the District.  Stops will be communicated once we have completed enrollment. 

\r\n

 Students will also have the opportunity to also take part in the summer meal program for both breakfast and lunch at no cost.

\r\n

 Class sizes will be a maximum of 25 students.  Enrollment will be limited based on capacity. 

\r\n

 Daily Schedule:

\r\n

 7:00-7:30am - Child Care before Breakfast - no-cost option

\r\n

7:30-8am - Breakfast (Free) and Before Camp recess 

\r\n

8:00-11:30am - (ELA and Math Instruction) - Session I (One Certified Teacher and Para-professional per class)

\r\n

11:30 - 12:00pm - Lunch (Free) - Transportation home after lunch

\r\n

12:00-12:30pm Lunch Recess

\r\n

12:30-4:00pm - Enrichment Class (Two adults per class)

\r\n

4:00pm - End of school day - Parent Pick-up only

\r\n

4:00-5:00pm - After-School Care (Parent Pick-up) - no-cost option

\r\n

The goal of the first session of the MVESD Summer Enrichment Academy is to provide students with supplemental instruction in the areas of ELA and Math.  This student opportunity focuses on strengthening, enriching, and extending the knowledge of ELA and Math content standards at your child’s 2021-2022 grade level.  Our hope is to strengthen the academic foundation for your child’s success in their 2022-2023 grade level and avoid the ‘Academic Proficiency Slide’ over the summer months.  This way, we can jumpstart the 2022-2023 school year with new grade-level appropriate learning.

 The second session of the day will provide enrichment opportunities for students where MVESD will provide a menu of hands-on classes to choose from that align with students’ passions and interests.  There will be more information on what grade-level options are available as enrollment continues.

 Tentative Examples:

  • Design/ Building with Legos

  • Board Games - strategy, language, focus, memory, cognitive skills, sportsmanship

  • Reader's Theater

  • Art - Visual Art Projects

  • Math in Art - Line symmetry string art, creating a city skyline using bar graphs; using a compass, ruler, and protractor to create pictures

  • Spanish Class - Basics of language and introduction to cultural traditions

  • American Sign Language - Introduction

  • Gardening Class - Basics of gardening and learning about different plants

  • Performing Arts - Dance
