Dear Families,
As we approach our state achievement testing in grades 3-8, we want to share how important this time is for your child and how you can help support their success at home.
State assessments provide valuable information about your child’s progress in reading, writing, and math. They also help us ensure that all students are on track and receiving the support they need to succeed. Most importantly, these assessments give students an opportunity to show what they have learned throughout the year.
You play a key role in helping your child feel confident and prepared. Practicing skills at home can make a big difference! Here are a few simple ways you can help:
Encourage daily reading: Ask your child questions about what they read to build comprehension.
Practice math skills: Review basic facts, problem-solving, and real-world math situations.
Support writing: Have your child write short responses, stories, or explanations and talk about their ideas.
Use online practice tools: If available, these help students become familiar with the testing format.
Promote good habits: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time.
Most importantly, encourage your child to try their best and remind them that effort matters. Confidence and a positive mindset go a long way!
We appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s learning. If you have any questions or would like additional resources for practice at home, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Individual schools will release their testing calendars. Stay tuned for updates!
Thank you for your continued support!
