MVESD Families,
We are writing to share a brief safety awareness update and to test our newly updated communication protocols.
Earlier today, a student brought a plastic toy resembling a gun onto the Fort Mojave Elementary campus. We want to clearly reassure our families that there was no threat to students or staff at any time. The item was a toy only. Please see the picture below; it does not fire projectiles; it simply lights up. Staff addressed the situation immediately and appropriately, and normal school operations continued without disruption.
While this was not a safety incident, it serves as an important reminder to work together to maintain a safe learning environment. We ask that families check students’ backpacks and personal items before coming to school to ensure toys, particularly those that resemble weapons, remain at home.
At Mohave Valley Elementary School District, safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage students, staff, and families to continue embracing the mindset of “See Something, Say Something.” Reporting concerns allows us to quickly assess situations, communicate clearly, and confirm when there is no cause for alarm, as was the case today.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our schools safe and focused on learning.
