Today we’d like to introduce you to long-time bus driver Sandra Rubalcava.
“Miss Sandra” as she is known to her students and parents, has been driving with Mohave Valley School District for 11 years, starting with Laidlaw Transportation Services when the district contracted its busing services. According to Transportation Director Paul Hurns, “Sandra is our longest term bus driver, very dependable, always on time and her students love her! She goes out of her way to help her students and co-workers. It’s always nice to see Sandra when she comes into work; she is a pleasure to be around. She has a great attitude and greets everyone with a smile”.
Hailing originally from Anaheim, California, Ms. Sandra had two students (twins, one boy and one girl) who attended Mohave Valley Elementary and Mohave Valley Jr. High before moving on the River Valley and college afterward. Her most rewarding experience with this job? According to Ms. Sandra, it’s “seeing students that remember me from when I first started driving, and now a lot of them have graduated from high school”.
