Melody Sarenas Cadenas is in her fifth year with the Mohave Valley School District. Currently she works at Camp Mohave as a third grade teacher. Prior to joining the Mohave Valley Team, Melody lived in the Philippines where she received her education from the National Teachers College in Manila and then taught for eight years. She says her favorite moments in the district happen when she is able to get students excited about learning. This along with seeing the students build confidence in themselves as their skills grow makes every day rewarding. In this way, Ms. Sarenas views her job a lot like a coach or a cheerleader. She loves to model for them and then watch them grow into successful students and over time into successful adults.
On a personal note, she admits that she is a bit of a gastronome. She takes and ardent interest in food and the enjoys it for pleasure. Ms. Sarenas (now Mrs. Cadenas) was also married over this past summer and is excited to share her joy of teaching and love of food with her new spouse.
Her administrators appreciate the positive message she brings to the class every day. No matter what the prior day brought, she treats the kids with respect and continues to work on helping them to achieve that which she knows they can. Her smile and positive attitude every day helps keep Camp Mohave a happy place for both students and staff.
