New Principal at Fort Mojave Elementary
Christmas break brought a change in leadership at Fort Mojave Elementary. Stepping into the principal’s office is Shanon Ferguson. Ms. Ferguson has been affiliated with the district for many years, starting as a school board member, then beginning her elementary teaching career at Mohave Valley Elementary in fifth and sixth grade. She then moved to Fort Mojave Elementary to teach kindergarten two years before becoming an instructional coach at Mohave Valley Jr. High. Mid-year last year the district transferred her back to Mohave Valley Elementary to provide administrative support part time as an assistant principal while spending the rest of her time as an instructional coach.
Ms. Ferguson’s experience as an instructional coach for the past three years makes her an ideal candidate for the principal’s position at Fort Mojave, as she is extremely knowledgeable and well trained in all aspects of the district’s improvement program. Her past experience in creating Mohave Valley’s first improvement plan which included a great foundation in teaching reading through her experience with Success for All, coupled with her experience at high school, kindergarten, fifth, and sixth grades only contribute to her credentials.
I anticipate Ms. Ferguson will be able to step into the great things already happening at Fort Mojave, continuing with the work Ms. Schwartz has begun, while adding her own personal character and personality to things. Please join me in welcoming her back into the Dust Devil fold!
