Board to Consider Charter School Conversion At last Thursday’s School Board meeting, the governing board voted to consider converting Fort Mojave Elementary and Camp Mohave Elementary Schools to district-sponsored charter schools beginning on July 22, 2013. The rationale behind this move is to take advantage of Arizona’s position for market-driven schools within the state. Charter schools receive approximately $1400 per student per year more than traditional school students receive. Mohave Valley District plans to use this additional funding to enhance curriculum, classrooms, and services to school. Each charter school to select an emphasis for its school- a “specialty” per say that will enrich their students’ education. |
