The Governing Board has called for a Budget Override Election to be placed on the November General Election Ballot. The proposed override would allow the district to increase its Maintenance and Operations Budget in order to fund an increase in the base teacher salary to $45,000. During discussion prior to the Board calling for an election, Superintendent Whitney Crow provided three reasons for increasing teacher salaries: Pay teachers more in line with what is required of them; Be able to attract teaching candidates when openings arise, and; Better keep teachers from transferring to higher paying and/or better benefited districts.
